If you are here then mean Ubuntu is your OS (as mine), so why don't increase Ubuntu changes playing Call of Duty 4 ?

So go HERE  and follow this useful guide. I don't tested yed but it seems a good set of instructions.

In few words the target is compile wine including a “3dmark” diff patch.

The source code used is v0.9.56 and now the version is 0.9.57 but I strongly suppose that if you compile this new version nothing change.

If you want try go HERE to get new source code and substitute in the code in the guide at wget and tar lines.

When you'll finished your work probably you'll discover that is impossible to play in multiplayer mode, that's why PunckBuster doesn't work in your Ubuntu.

There is a solution to solve this problem HERE, where you'll find that you must run pbsetup.run using this commands:

First get inside the punkbuster folder (named "pb") in your Call of Duty installation path usind cd command (I don't know where you installed COD).

Then in a terminal do:

sudo apt-get install upx-ucl
 sudo upx -d pbsetup.run
 sudo chmod +x pbsetup.run
  sudo ./pbsetup.run

That's should be enough (I hope).

note: everything should work in 32 and 64 bit Ubuntu.
